Joe's New Blog

Nothing special, this is just my third effort at writing a blog about my life and what goes on in it: Hobbies, cooking, work, maybe the occasional book or DVD review, and so forth. Nothing really noteworthy, but this is sort of a little subset of my world...

Daily Journal: Day 58 of 365

It’s been another long day. I slept in a little too late today and got to work about 15 minutes late. They don’t really care all that much as long as I get the work done, though. The morning shift was pretty much just the usual crap down in the file room. I didn’t get the chance to talk to the manager about the training stuff, so I’ll try to get that done tomorrow.

The evening shift was kind of interesting. I drove one old guy home early on. He was getting in the van and pulled a pistol (in the holster) out and stuck it on the floor. “Don’t worry, it’s unloaded,” he tells me. He just didn’t want to leave it sitting in his car unattended, for which I can’t really blame him. Then when we got to his place, he tells me that I should come by if I want and pick up as many of the pecans around his place as I want. He has five or six trees and says that he can’t find anyone around to pick them. I told the girlfriend when I got home, and she thinks it would be great to go collect a bunch of them.

Ernie seems to be doing a little better with the biting. He started biting me again today, and I pretty much just held him in a hug under my chin until he was whining. Usually, once he starts that, I let him go, but this time I just kept holding him until he was really crying about it. Since then, he’s tried to take a few little nips at me, but I’ve grabbed him by the scruff and given him a little shake, and he’s minded himself a lot better. I’m hoping that maybe he’s finally come to the conclusion that we’re the dominant ones. We’ll see how tomorrow goes…
