Joe's New Blog

Nothing special, this is just my third effort at writing a blog about my life and what goes on in it: Hobbies, cooking, work, maybe the occasional book or DVD review, and so forth. Nothing really noteworthy, but this is sort of a little subset of my world...

Daily Journal: Day 50 of 365

Another long day. The girlfriend had to open today, and her leaving woke up the puppy. So I was up at about 6:30 in the morning, letting the little guy roam around and chew on me. He’s not really supposed to chew on me, but I was too tired to really care all that much. I did try to get him to chew on his rubber duck more than on me, but it was with mixed success.

Due to the fact that I was so damned tired, I wound up getting to work late. The computer system was running incredibly slowly, so I didn’t really have much opportunity to do any training to cover the warranty position. I talked to Erica, the office manager, and she’s going to take care of most of the stuff that really needs to happen in the system, while I’m going to print out the information they need from GM’s vehicle information system. Hopefully I’ll be able to help out quite a bit but not screw too much up.

I managed to find an order for which they’d been looking for the past couple of weeks. It turns out that it was stapled to the wrong order. Erica had really narrowed it down to one of a few possible orders, so I just did the legwork. It was at least nice to know that I saved the company and one of the sales advisors several thousand dollars. Even if I didn’t get much more than a quick thank you from the advisor.

Most of the rest of the day was the same old stuff. I had a couple of pictures of Ernie on my camera, and everyone thought he was just adorable, which he is of course. When he’s not trying to gnaw on my fingers. The girlfriend took him to the vet for the first time this afternoon, and he said that to crate train him, we should have him in a much smaller crate and just get up every couple of hours and take him over to where he’s supposed to pee. We’re going to try that for the first time tonight and see if it works out any better.

And then tomorrow, we’re going to try a different work schedule so we can come home every couple of hours and let him out to go to the bathroom and play a little. I’m hoping that it won’t just wear both of us too ragged, not to mention being totally hard on the little guy. I guess we’ll see, but for now it’s off to bed…
