Joe's New Blog

Nothing special, this is just my third effort at writing a blog about my life and what goes on in it: Hobbies, cooking, work, maybe the occasional book or DVD review, and so forth. Nothing really noteworthy, but this is sort of a little subset of my world...

Daily Journal: Day 48 of 365

Today we went and picked up Ernie the corgi from his family in Oklahoma. We got out of the house a little later than expected, which is pretty much the norm for the two of us. The girlfriend was telling me how she always used to be on time for everything, but now it seems like she’s late far more often than she’s on time. I guess I do tend to mess with her system of doing things quite a bit, and I’ve never really been one to care if I’m on time all that much. I guess I should start trying to get more punctual.

In any case, we made it up to the people’s place in Yukon, Oklahoma, about half an hour later than we’d been planning. Ernie’s mom and auntie, as well as a little dachshund named Mia, greeted us at the door. The meeting went well and we paid the rest of the money and headed for home with Ernie safely ensconced in the little pet taxi. He rode very well, not whining too terribly much and mostly just sleeping or gazing aimlessly out the front of the crate. I thought about taking him out and letting him ride in my lap, but the girlfriend mentioned earlier that she didn’t feel that comfortable with an unsecured pet riding in the car, so I didn’t suggest it.

Ernie’s had a few issues with potty training, but we’re cutting him a bit of slack on his first day. Tomorrow, we’re definitely going to try to be a bit more firm with getting him to do his business outside. For now, though, he’s passed out on the living room floor, and we’re getting ready to head off to sleep ourselves. It’s been quite a long day…
