Joe's New Blog

Nothing special, this is just my third effort at writing a blog about my life and what goes on in it: Hobbies, cooking, work, maybe the occasional book or DVD review, and so forth. Nothing really noteworthy, but this is sort of a little subset of my world...

Albuquerque, NM

The girlfriend and I are currently in Albuquerque, on our way back to Oregon to visit my mom. We drove through tons of rain and a bit of snow yesterday. Up to Oklahoma City, then west through the Texas panhandle, including a stop at the Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo. We stopped for lunch in Vega, TX, eating at a little saloon and grill place, which I can't really recommend at all. Then it was on through the evening into New Mexico, mostly a drive in the dark into Albuquerque. We're at the Midtown Econolodge, which is clean and has decent amenities, although it's showing its age a bit. Ate last night at the Village Inn, which was decent. A Denny's-type place, but the grub was prepared all right and the service was friendly, if a bit slow.

We're on to the Grand Canyon today, and won't have internet access there. Will post pics later, but need to get ready to leave now...
